The Deputy Minister of National Defence Mr Giannis Kefalogiannis and the Ministry of Health, have signed a joint ministerial decision for posting three medical school graduate soldiers to cover the health needs of vacant doctors positions in the Regional Medical Centres of Folegandros, Symi and Anafi.
The military service time of the aforementioned soldiers in these positions will also count as rural service time. Furthermore, from the date of assumption of such duties, they are entitled, in addition to the pay from the Ministry of National Defence, to the monthly salary paid by the Ministry of Health to doctors on rural service, as well as compensation for days on duty, which is paid from Ministry of Health funds.
The Deputy Minister of National Defence Mr Kefalogiannis stated: “The Ministry of National Defence stands by the side of the Greek society wherever and whenever needed, protecting its citizens’ well-being, so that all of our fellow citizens can equally enjoy access to the benefit of medical healthcare”.
