On Easter Sunday, 5 May 2024, the Minister of National Defence Nikos Dendias, continued his visit on Kastellorizo, accompanied by the Chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff, General Dimitrios Choupis, the Commander of Supreme Military Command of Interior and Islands, Lieutenant General Emmanouil Theodorou and the Commander of the 95 Higher National Guard Battalions Command, Major General Emmanouil Chatzis.
Specifically, the Minister of National Defence visited the Patrol Boat “Krystallidis” in the Harbour of Megisti, where he exchanged wishes with the Captain, Lieutenant Commander Dimitrios Angelis and the crew for Easter, and thanked them for their service to the country.
Following his visit to the Patrol Boat Krystallidis, the Minister of National Defence stated:
“It is my great joy and a great honour to be here, on Kastellorizo, on the greatest celebration of Orthodox Christianity, the celebration of the Resurrection of our Divine Lord. Earlier, I had the opportunity, alongside the Chief of Hellenic National Defence General Staff, to visit the Patrol Boat “Krystallidis”. Immediately after that, we will visit the Island Defence Command of Megisti, to exchange wishes with our soldiers here. With the men and women of the Armed Forces defending one of the most crucial regions for our Country, the neighbourhood of Kastellorizo, the eastern frontier of Greek and European territory.
I would yet again like to proclaim that “Christ is Risen”, and express, on behalf of the government, and I think the whole of Greek society, our pride in your work here, and our deep gratitude to all those defending our country’s borders.
Christ is Risen!”
Subsequently, Mr Dendias, alongside the officers and soldiers of the Island Defence Command, shared an Easter Meal, at the military camp of the Island Defence Command of Megisti, where he also exchanged wishes.
