On Monday, 27 May 2024, the Deputy Minister of National Defence Mr Giannis Kefalogiannis was in Evros, where he made a series of visits, accompanied by Commanding General of D Army Corps, Lieutenant General Stavros Papastathopoulos.
Mr. Kefalogiannis visited the Proving Ground – Range “AETOS”, where he was greeted by the Commanding General of the ΧΙΙ Mechanised Infantry Division, Major General Ioannis Korres, in order to observe the National Operational Evaluation of the 644th Mechanised Battalion, and discuss with reservists, praising their devotion to the Country.
Subsequently, he visited the University Hospital of Alexandroupolis, the General Hospital of Didymotiho, and the Health Centre of Soufli, where he met with the Hospitals’ Directors, as well as the personnel provided by the Ministry of National Defence for their needs. Specifically, the four Military Doctors (Cardiologist, Gastroenterologist, Pulmonologist, Neurologist) provided to the University Hospital of Alexadroupolis, the five Military Doctors (Cardiologist, Pathologist, Orthopedist, Surgeon, Psychiatrist) provided to the General Hospital of Didymotiho, and the three ambulance drivers, Career Soldiers provided to the Health Centre of Soufli.
The Deputy Minister thanked and congratulated them for the important work they are doing to meet the health needs of local society.
After the completion of his visits, the Deputy Minister of National Defence made the following statement:
“It is a great pleasure to be in Evros, the frontline of our Country’s deterrent power, yet again. I had the opportunity to visit the Proving Ground – Range “AETOS”, in order to observe the National Operational Evaluation of the 644th Mechanised Battalion, and discuss with reservists, praising their devotion to the Country.
I visited the General Hospitals of Alexandroupolis and Didymotiho, where I met with the Hospitals’ Directors, as well as the Military Doctors detached by the Ministry of National Defence for their needs, whom I thanked and congratulated for the important work they do in meeting the health needs of the area.
At the same time, I visited the Health Centre of Soufli, in order to congratulate the three Hospital Drivers, career soldiers, whom we have posted there.
The Ministry of National Defence and the Armed Forces will continue to be on the side of society, wherever and whenever needed. Through planning and decisiveness, we safeguard the prosperity of our citizens and their equal access to the highest of goods, healthcare.”
