On Tuesday, 30 January 2024, the Minister of National Defence Nikos Dendias met in “Ioannis Kapodistrias” hall of the Ministry of National Defence with the new Board of Directors of the Hellenic Aerospace Industry (HAI), which he appointed by Ministerial Decision.
The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Minister of National Defence Ioannis Kefalogiannis and the General Secretary of the Hellenic Ministry of National Defence Antonis Ikonomou, as well as the Chief of Hellenic National Defence General Staff, General Dimitrios Choupis, the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Georgios Kostidis, the Chief of Hellenic Navy General Staff, Vice Admiral Dimitrios – Eleftherios Kataras HN, the Chief of Hellenic Air Force General Staff, Lieutenant General (HAF) Dimosthenis Grigoriadis, the General Director of the General Directorate for Defence Investments and Armaments (GDDIA), Vice Admiral Aristidis Alexopoulos (ret.), and others.
The new Board of Directors of the Hellenic Aerospace Industry consists of:
a. Alexandros Diakopoulos, Vice Admiral (ret.), as Chairman and CEO.
b. Maria Georgiou, Honorary President of the Supreme Court, as Vice Chairman.
c. Georgios Karadimas, Lieutenant General (HAF) (ret.), as Chief Operating Officer (COO).
d. Dimitrios Skaleos, Mechanical Engineer – Economist, as Chief Restructuring Officer (CRO).
e. Ioulia Pantazopoulou, Economist, as Head of the Audit Committee.
f. Ioannis Korakakis, Vice Admiral (ret.), as independent non-executive Member.
g. Georgios Papageorgantas, Economist, as independent non-executive Member.
h. Dimitra Frangiskaki, Lawyer, as independent non-executive Member.
i. Nektarios Banakas, Mechanical Engineer, as non-executive Member.
After the meeting, Mr. Dendias made the following statement:
“Today I met with the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Aerospace Industry I appointed.
They assumed their duties at a difficult time. The “Agenda 2030” for our country’s the Armed Forces provides an upgraded role for the domestic defence industry and the Hellenic Aerospace Industry has a pivotal role to play in this framework.
The current situation in the Hellenic Aerospace Industry is unacceptable. The new Board of Directors is called to establish the exact condition of the Hellenic Aerospace Industry.
Rationalise its finances, restructure the company, implement a modern operating model, always respecting the Greek taxpayers’ money.
All that in order to be able to meet its obligations to our country’s Armed Forces. Especially the Hellenic Air Force, but also the Hellenic Navy and our Army Aviation.
The Government has decided, I believe with the support of the entire political spectrum and Greek society, to move forward to a new era for the Hellenic Aerospace Industry”.
