On Thursday, 29 February 2024, the Minister of National Defence Nikos Dendias attended the ceremony for the completion of the “KYKNOS” programme, a donation of the President of the “Aikaterini Laskaridis”
Foundation, shipowner and honorary Rear Admiral Panaghiotis Laskaridis to the Hellenic Navy General Staff.
The “KYKNOS” programme involved the replacement of all generators of the Hellenic Navys three S” type Frigates and contributes to the operational upgrade of the Fleet's capital ships.
The ceremony was also attended by the Deputy Minister of National Defence Mr. Ioannis Kefalogiannis, the Chief of Hellenic National Defence General Staff, General Dimitrios Choupis, the Chief of Hellenic Navy General Staff, Vice Admiral Dimitrios-Eleftherios Kataras HN, honorary Chiefs of Hellenic Navy General Staff and Commanders in Chief of the Hellenic Fleet, as well as active duty and retired Hellenic Navy officers.
The total contribution of honorary Rear Admiral Panaghiotis Laskaridis to the Hellenic Navy exceeds €23 mil. with donations of a Training Ship and General Support Ships, the upgrade of a wing of the Athens Naval Hospital, the repair of part of the lighthouse network, auxiliary equipment of ships, and the Salamis Naval Base, and the maintenance of the Floating Naval Museum Battleship AVEROF.
