The Minister of National Defence Nikos Dendias participated today, Tuesday 19 March 2024, in the Ukraine Defence Contact Group’s meeting, which took place by initiative of the US Defence Minister Lloyd Austin, in Ramstein Airbase-Germany.
The meeting was also attended by the Chief/HNDGS, General Dimitrios Houpis.
The developments in Ukraine, the supply of defence materiel and training for the Ukrainian Armed forces, as well as cooperation for the development of capabilities in the country’s defence, were among the issues discussed.
At his intervention, the Defence Minister underlined that Greece’s position in principle is to support Ukraine and its right to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity, based on the principles of International Law and the UN Charter.
Mr. Minister also referred to our country’s defence assistance to Ukraine, and highlighted that Greece will carry on being by Ukraine’s side.
At the margins of the Meeting, Mr. Minister had bilateral meetings with the Defence Ministers of Ukraine, Rustem Umerov, of France, Sebastien Lecornu, of Germany, Boris Pistorius, and the Deputy Defence Minister of the UK, James Heappey.
